WISDOM FOR THE DAY DEVOTIONAL

TOPIC: KNOW YOUR IDENTITY
“And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.” Matthew 4:3 KJV
Jesus was led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. There, the devil subtly asked Jesus if He was truly the Son of God. Look at the narrative, “if thou be the Son of God, command these stones to be turned to bread…” Of course, Jesus replied him based on the word and also based on what God had said earlier concerning Him.
He knew who He was. He was never in doubt as to His true identity. He knew he was the only begotten Son of God. He knew why He came to the earth.
Don’t forget that this incident happened just after God had openly declared in the preceding chapter that “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17 NKJV). That tells you that the devil knows who you are, but wants to be sure if you know who you are.
When you know your identity and walk in the consciousness of that identity, you will achieve more for yourself and the Kingdom. When you know who you are, then you can access your full potential in Him. That means you’ve got to know what is available to you, how strong you are, how blessed you are, and how favoured you are.
When you know and are persuaded of these truths, you become unstoppable, and the devil cannot run you over.
The devil’s assignment is to make you doubt who you are and what you carry so that he can discourage you. You will notice that Jesus didn’t have to turn stones into bread because He knew who He was, and He knew His assignment. He didn’t have to prove anything to the devil.
He simply went about doing good. And the devil could not stop Him. He fulfilled His ministry. He overcame every situation and circumstance that came His way. He was a world overcomer. I can guarantee you that you have the victory already because you are born of God.
