WISDOM FOR THE DAY DEVOTIONAL
BY BISHOP MIKE OKONKWO
SUNDAY 1st FEBRUARY 2026
TOPIC: THE DEVIL OPERATES THROUGH LIES
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” – Ephesians 6:10-11 (KJV)
Beloved, God has equipped us with spiritual armour so that we can stand firm against every scheme of the enemy. Satan operates through lies. His native language is deception. He whispers that God’s promises for your life will not work, that blessing will never manifest, and that lack is permanent. But heaven lacks nothing!
The enemy’s strategy has not changed since the beginning. Consider his encounter with Eve: “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?” – Genesis 3:1 (NLT)
Notice that he did not deny God’s Word. Instead, he cast doubt. He asked, “Did God really say?” prompting Eve to question what she already knew to be true. This is Satan’s method: sow doubt and confusion. Many believers fall into this trap. Even after witnessing miracles, the enemy will whisper: “Did it really happen? Did you really receive it? Why are you still struggling?”
He used the same tactic when he tempted Jesus: “And when the tempter came to Him, he said, ‘If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.’” – Matthew 4:3 (KJV)
But notice Jesus’ response: He stood firm in His identity. God had already declared Him publicly: “And lo a voice from heaven, saying, ‘This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’” – Matthew 3:17 (KJV)
Beloved, the same principle applies to you. Know your identity in Christ. Stand in the authority and armour God has provided. Don’t fall for the enemy’s lies or doubts. When you are equipped with truth and faith, deception has no power over you.
