TOPIC: YOU HAVE BEEN DISCHARGED AND ACQUITTED
“For if by one man’s offence, death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:17 KJV
If you understand today’s passage, you will reign over circumstances, rather than being overwhelmed by any situation. Challenges will be another opportunity to reveal Him to your adversary.
You see, Righteousness gives you the assurance as a believer, that through the finished work of Christ, you have been discharged and acquitted. The case is closed in your favour, and there is no more appeal. The Court of Heaven has weighed all your mistakes, past, present, and future.
The fact is that because you are in Christ, you have been discharged and acquitted. The case is closed in your favour, and the enemy can no longer appeal it. What remains is celebration.
So, what you are entitled to is the goodness of God. Nothing else! That is why Paul says, I am not ashamed of the gospel. I will declare it on the rooftop. I will tell it to the people who knew me as a criminal, letting them know that something has happened to me. I can tell the gospel anywhere.
I don’t know about you, but the gospel is too good to be true. God will not impute sin on me! The bible says I have not beheld iniquity in Jacob. He didn’t say Jacob did not commit iniquity, rather He said, I didn’t see it. If you are quarrelling with me, go and quarrel with God. He said, I have not seen perverseness in Israel.
Why did He not see iniquity in Jacob in the account of Numbers 23? Is it that God has gone soft on sin? No! You know why He didn’t see it? It is because there was the slaughter of animals when Balak asked Balaam to curse God’s people. He made a mistake by saying there shall be a sacrifice.
So that sacrifice covered the iniquity. And when God looked down from heaven, He saw the blood. When I see the blood, I will pass over.
