YOUR SINS ARE FORGIVEN

“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses.” Colossians 2:13

Jesus Christ through His death, burial and resurrection has satisfied the claims of justice. God so loved you that He was willing to give to us His only Son for you to be justified. It will be contrary to the “law of double jeopardy” for Christ to suffer and for us to suffer too. God is too just and holy to do that. Why then did Jesus come, if I have to pay for my sins? Then, I had better go to hell because I can’t even pay for my sin. But praise God, He paid for it so that I can be justified.

Forgiveness of sin is not a reward you get because you confessed Christ. No! Everything we receive from God is because of what He had already done, not because of what we do. In the Old Testament, they confess sins, that’s what you see in the Bible. In the covenant of law, you confess sins. When the people came to John the Baptist, they were confessing their sins. In the book of Daniel, you will see where sins were confessed. But in the covenant of grace, He grants you forgiveness without confession. Ephesians 1:7 states: “In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” Forgiveness is part of your salvation package. We already have it!

Do you know that if there is any sin remaining, Jesus would still be in the grave? He will remain there because the devil would say, there is still one more. He came to take away sin. We must, therefore, do away with sin consciousness. It is a wrong thought pattern for a believer to wake up every morning and think of sin. You don’t belong there! We are saved by grace and this same grace maintains us to make sure we stand with Him and trust that He keeps us on course even when we miss our mark.
