BECOME A BUILDER OF THE FAMILY NAME

“Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall: The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him.”
Genesis 49:22-23
If you say you belong to the family, follow the vision and dream of the family. Find out the heartbeat of the man of God and follow it and not do your thing or play games. The times we are in are too critical; you cannot afford to run on a tangent. Yes, we have individual gifting and talents but then everyone must be following the same thing and the focus must be on the global vision of the ministry wherein you have been planted.
Joseph was a builder of the family name. In Genesis 45, after revealing himself to his brethren Joseph said where is my father? Is it still well with my father? Joseph knew the heartbeat of his father. That is a true son. Don’t say you are a son and you abandoned the same water you drank from that established and strengthened you. Now you are strong! When you should now be a builder of the family name and a leader that others should look up to, you chose to jump ship. No, that is not God’s plan. God expects you to take responsibility in His house; that is the test of maturity.

In Gen. 49:23, we read an interesting scripture “Archers have sorely grieved him and shot at him and hated him”. Does that sound familiar? When you are a builder, there will be challenges, there will be pressures, you will be misconstrued and you will be accused wrongly, but that should not make you jump ship. Many believers, because of accusations don’t want to be called names. Consequently, they shun their responsibility to avoid being called names. They are more concerned about preserving their names and their reputation. No! The kingdom must come first. Jacob bestowed blessings upon Joseph. You can’t build and not be blessed. Praise be to God.
