BUILD YOUR PHILOSOPHY ON THE WORD OF GOD
Dr. Mike Okonkwo

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ”. Colossians 2:8 (KJV)

You will be shocked to know that there are many people today who are believers but still derive their philosophy from the world. It is the news and what they read in the newspapers that form their philosophy. They say the devil is after me! The devil has sent arrows into my head! He is after my life, etc. Look at you! I thought you said you are a believer?

Before the devil can succeed in sending an arrow to any person, there is a lowering of guard. God is powerful enough to fight for you. He is powerful enough to defend His own. Do you belong to God? If your answer is yes, then He will defend you. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 10:8, “… and whoso breaketh hedge, a serpent shall bite him”. That’s the truth.

Your belief shapes your expectation and expectation is the mother of miracles, but if you expect negative things, you also attract negative things to yourself; what you expect, you will attract. It is very important, therefore, that you stay in a church that is preaching the Word. Don’t replace the word with your tradition, your philosophy or experience of others. Build your faith in the word of God. Make sure you are in a Bible-believing church, where the word of God is preached. If you don’t build your life on the scriptures, you become a minced-meat to the devil.

When you are reading the newspapers and there is a bold headline which says: “The whole country is going into recession” Don’t accept it! Rather declare over your life: “Thank God! My God supplies my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” Separate yourself immediately. Don’t allow evil reports and traditions of men build your philosophy. Consciously build your philosophy on the word of God.
