CHRIST IS A MERCIFUL AND FAITHFUL HIGH PRIEST
By Bishop Mike Okonkwo

Saturday 6th August 2022

“Therefore, it was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters, so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then he could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people.” Hebrews 2:17 (NLT)

Beloved, do you know that Jesus is not ashamed or embarrassed to call believers in Christ brothers and sisters. He is not embarrassed at all. The book of Hebrews 2:12-14 says, “For he said to God, I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters. I will praise you among your assembled people. He also said I will put my trust in him”. That is, I and the children God has given me; because God’s children are human beings, made of flesh and blood; the son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he be able to die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death.” (NLT).

That is the master’s stroke. Obviously, the devil didn’t expect Him to do this. He had to take the form of a human being. And in dying like a human being, He broke the power of the devil.

Notice the words, merciful and faithful High Priest! Not judgmental! Not the one that is waiting to kill you. And that is what the devil doesn’t like. He has always tried to project God as a wicked God. He tells you that God doesn’t like you, probably because you are suffering from a temporal setback. The greatest way you can see that God loves you is that He gave His life for you.

Beloved, I am glad to tell you that Jesus Christ has paid the price. He paid it judiciously. You do not owe any more debt. I declare that you are free to live a good life. You are free to enjoy yourself. You are free to succeed in life. You are free without looking back because God is watching your back.
