TOPIC: DON’T ABANDON THE WORD
“And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.” Mark 16:20 NKJV
According to the scripture, “……. after the Lord had spoken unto them, He was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.” (Mark 16:29 KJV). Jesus has finished His work, and He is seated as the Head of the Church, with us as His body. Now, for Him to move, He moves through us.
The Father has finished! Jesus has finished! Now it is your turn. Stop waiting for God to move; the next move is yours.
The disciples preached in markets, offices, and wherever they found people. As they preached, the Lord worked with them, confirming His Word with signs and wonders. They were not chasing after signs. Instead, signs followed them. This implies that signs follow believers who release the Word of God.
Jesus said, “My words are spirit and they are life” (John 6:63), highlighting the supernatural nature of God’s Word.
The Bible is a powerful weapon in your hands, yet many are not studying it. A generation exists today that does not read the Word, and the devil takes advantage of this ignorance. Most believers have received Jesus, but fail to read the Bible to understand what it says about them.
The devil is pleased with this, as he doesn’t mind believers carrying multiple Bible translations or attending church frequently if they remain ignorant of the Scriptures and God’s power. As it is written, “They do err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God.” (Matthew 22:29 KJV).
In 1 Kings 19, Elijah fled from Jezebel after his mighty encounter with God. Despite calling down fire and defeating the prophets of Baal, Elijah ran when Jezebel threatened him. He forgot the supernatural power of God’s Word. Elijah sat under a juniper tree, grumbling about being abandoned.
However, God hadn’t abandoned him. Elijah had left God’s Word. The truth is, one can never be too saturated with the Word of God. We need to continually feast on it, allowing it to permeate every aspect of our lives.
