WISDOM FOR THE DAY DEVOTIONAL

WEDNESDAY JUNE 24th 2026

TOPIC: HOPE AGAINST ALL ODDS

“Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, so shall thy seed be.” Romans 4:18 KJV

The scripture says, ‘who against hope believed in hope’. In other words, Abraham found himself in a hopeless situation and yet kept on believing against all hope. That first hope is talking about human hope or the natural hope. For example, telling someone I hope to be with you tomorrow at noon.
This kind of hope usually takes into consideration every natural condition and factor. Human hopes are anticipations, expectations, or projections. It is subject to natural conditions that could change.

You see, there is a limitation to the wisdom of man. Therefore, your faith should not stand in the wisdom of man but in the power of God. In other words, there is a platform to stand on that you can be secured and assured in this world that is fast falling apart.

The natural world system is not going to get better. It is headed for destruction. So, your faith must not stand in the wisdom of men.

Abraham was given a promise by God. It was not his initiative; it was God’s decision. God decided and called him out according to the scripture in Genesis 12 and separated him from his kindred and family. He said to Abraham I am going to make a nation out of you.

Remember, this was a man who had no baby and had passed the time of childbearing. That was the position with Abraham. But God says to Abraham I am calling you out because I am going to do something different with you. That is the God that we serve. He knows how to beat man’s arrangement. And when you follow Him, you can never fail.

There was an opportunity not to believe. But Abraham held on to the promise of God. You will always encounter hopeless situations in this world, but you must learn to hold on tenaciously to the Word of God.
