NAVIGATING LIFE THROUGH THE WORD
By Bishop Mike Okonkwo

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shall meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shall have good success.” Joshua 1:8 (KJV)

If I am told that this is a book that will make me succeed, I will marry the book, I will bury my head in it, I will live in it, I will drink it, I will eat it and I will spend time in it. Because I know it will make me successful and it will help me to navigate my way here on earth.

Psalm 119:19 says: “I am a stranger in the earth: Hide not thy commandments from me.”( KJV)
I am a stranger and I don’t know my way! When you show me your commandments, I will know how to do business, I will know how to marry my wife, I will know how to pass examinations, I will know how to subdue the enemy and I will know how to overtake and recover all.

“The entrance of thy words giveth light; It giveth understanding unto the simple.”(Psalm 119:130 KJV). When the world gets dark, light comes, and then it gives you understanding and clarity. The scripture also declares in Psalms 119:97: “O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day”. That is what I think of! I don’t waste my time thinking of the movie. I don’t waste my time thinking of frivolities. I look for the word that is relevant to the area of my needs and I begin to think about it. Why? Because “…through thy commandments, hast made me wiser than mine enemies: For they are ever with me.” (Psalm 119:98 KJV). God’s word will make you wiser than your enemies.
“I have more understanding than all my teachers: For thy testimonies are my meditation.” (Psalm 119:99 KJV)

The word of God will make you more astute. The word of God will make you sharper. The word of God will make you strong and it will fill your mind with understanding.
