WISDOM FOR THE DAY DEVOTIONAL

TOPIC: POSITION YOURSELF TO FLOURISH
“Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.” – 1 Peter 5:5–6 (KJV)
Beloved, pride is a silent destroyer. Some people are so arrogant and self-absorbed that they believe everything in life revolves around them. They are trapped in their own little world, refusing to learn from others or see beyond their own experiences.
Humility is the key to growth. No one knows it all. If you want to flourish, you must be willing to learn, explore, and expose yourself to new insights. Travel. Attend conferences and credible programs. Observe what others are doing differently and learn from them. That is part of education and spiritual maturity.
From the inception of our ministry, many of the ideas and practices we use today came from such learning experiences. Even some of the songs we sing in our worship were learned at conferences I attended years ago. Back then, there were no recordings, so I would write down the tonic solfa and later teach the choir. That’s how we grew.
Traveling broadens your perspective. It enlightens and empowers you. Don’t localize yourself, don’t box your potential within your immediate environment. Otherwise, you’ll be limited in scope and wonder why things aren’t progressing, even though you are anointed.
Yes, you may be anointed, but there are principles and practical insights you must still apply. Don’t feel too big to listen to others or to learn from their messages. Growth requires humility and a willingness to improve. The Bible says, “The path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.” (Proverbs 4:18 NKJV). Your light should grow brighter, not dimmer.
Remember, God is not a subject to be mastered, He is a revelation to be continually discovered. It will take eternity to fully unravel Him. Therefore, remain teachable and stay at the cutting edge while you are alive. Don’t become a “used-to-be.” Don’t retire spiritually while you are still breathing. Keep learning. Keep improving. Keep shining.
These are the attitudes that position you to flourish.
