WISDOM FOR THE DAY DEVOTIONAL
By Bishop Mike Okonkwo

THURSDAY 5th FEBRUARY 2026

TOPIC: SPEAK TO YOURSELF

“For she said to herself, If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.”
Matthew 9:21 NKJV

Beloved, the woman with the issue of blood had lost everything, her money, her friends, her hope. The devil continued to whisper lies to her, reminding her of the doctor’s report that predicted her death.
Maybe you have received a similar report from your doctors. Refuse it! That word does not define your life. You will live to declare the works of God. While the doctor’s words may have been harsh and discouraging, she heard another message, a message of hope.

She heard about Jesus, the Healer, the Deliverer, the One who raises the dead, casts out devils, heals the sick, opens deaf ears, and makes the blind to see. And she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.”

Beloved, when was the last time you spoke to yourself? When did you last declare God’s truth over your life? If you continually replay the devil’s lies, you give him power. You may not be able to stop the enemy from sending thoughts your way, but you can stop them from taking root. With the double anointing you carry, you have the authority to say no.
You have the power to crush every thought that seeks to establish a stronghold of lies in your mind. Cast down every negative thought. Destroy it! Say no! It is your responsibility to guard your mind.
The woman spoke to herself: “I shall be whole if I touch Him.” She declared her victory before she even touched Jesus. Speak to yourself! You are not foolish or deluded when you affirm God’s Word over your life, you are aligning yourself with your future and sending the devil packing.

Though she was exhausted and weary, her own declaration strengthened her. The Word of God has the power to empower, energize, and motivate you. Cultivate the habit of speaking God’s Word to yourself daily. The Word of God is Spirit, and the Word of God is life.
