WE ARE CITIZENS OF HEAVEN
By Bishop Mike Okonkwo

Friday 8th July 2022

“But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.” Philippians 3:20 (NLT)

As believers, our citizenship is of heaven. That is where we come from. We are not of this world though we are in this world. When we are out of this world, then the devil can begin to do what he wants. When the world powers are manipulating and conspiring, remember that you are a citizen of heaven. Your end has already been determined. You are not going to partake of their wickedness. No, you will not.

Every time the scripture talks about the evacuation of the believer from this material realm, it is with joy. It is something that should bring joy to you and not anger or fear. Jesus speaking in the book of John 5:24 says: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death unto life”. You already have eternal life. You are a citizen of heaven.

The book of 1 John 5:11 says “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son”. This record is already sealed and delivered. You have life, not death. You must arm yourself with this truth. You have to have a knowing. It is not a play on words. It is not a probability. It is not an assumption. It is the truth.

Beloved, you are not in any way in the same boat as those without Christ. You are totally separated and there’s no way you will suffer the same wrath they will go through. You have been delivered from the wrath to come. This is an assurance we have from the word of God.

If you have received Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, ensure that you appropriate everything that He died for and everything He has given to you.
