WISDOM FOR THE DAY DEVOTIONAL
By Bishop Mike Okonkwo
WEDNESDAY 28th JANUARY 2026
TOPIC: *YOU ARE UNCOMMON*
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.” – 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)
Beloved, Christianity is not a “do-it-to-become” life; it is a “done” life, then you become. It begins with believing what Christ has already accomplished. You first accept who you are in Him, and then the Holy Spirit empowers you to manifest it.
The Bible says: “…the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.” (Daniel 11:32 NKJV). Notice the order, they are strong first, and then they do exploits. Strength comes from knowing who you are in God; exploits follow as a natural result.
Religion reverses this order. It says, “Do great exploits so we can know you are strong.” But grace says, “You are already strong; therefore, go and do exploits.”
Beloved, you are not ordinary. The Scripture calls you a peculiar person, one who is uncommon, distinct, and set apart. You may dress like others, work among others, and live in the same world, but you are not the same. You are a divine carrier of God’s presence, called to display His glory wherever you go.
God made you unique so that you could reveal Him to the world. Everywhere you appear, God is on display because His Spirit dwells in you. You are carrying Jesus, the express image of the Father. When people encounter you, they encounter Him, and their perception of God is transformed into praise because of the evidence they see in your life.
Remember, God has called you out of darkness. You are no longer in that realm! You now live in the Kingdom of His dear Son, the Kingdom of Light. That is your permanent address.
“And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” (John 1:5 NKJV). Darkness cannot overpower you because you carry the Light of the world within you.
Beloved, this is your “Yes, indeed!” season, blessing upon blessing, glory upon glory, breakthrough upon breakthrough! Every delay is lifted, every closed door is opened, and every situation that has mocked your faith is terminated.
Walk boldly in your royal identity. You are chosen. You are peculiar. You are unstoppable.
