YOU ARE WHO GOD SAYS YOU ARE
By Bishop Mike Okonkwo

“And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17 (KJV)

Jesus had just come out of baptism and the heavens endorsed and commended Him. Up till this time, Jesus had not worked any miracle. Up till this time there were no mighty deeds from Him. Yet the word spoken from heaven is: “This is my beloved Son”. In Christ, you are God’s son. It is not predicated on how you feel. It is God’s determination. You are His son.

Adam was made in the image of God without Adam’s input and without his effort. One of the challenges facing us today is that we want to make input in what God had determined concerning us before we were born. God told Jeremiah: “Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5 KJV)

Many believers fail to accept by faith what God has said about them. God came to Jesus and said to him, you are my son in whom I am well pleased. Then in Matthew 4:3, the devil came to attacked Jesus’ identity. “… If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.” God has just announced in the previous chapter: “This is my beloved Son”. And the devil came to violate it, telling Him that it cannot be true. But Jesus stood His ground.

God tells you that He has been made unto you, wisdom, redemption, righteousness and sanctification. And you say I am not sure I am. God comes to you and tells you that by His stripes you are healed, and you say I still feel the pains in my body. God comes to you and tells you that you are prosperous, and you say no, I have no money in my account because you go by sight. The believer is meant to walk by faith and not by sight.

Beloved, you are who God says you are. Pay no attention to the lies of the devil.
