TOPIC: IT IS ABOUT WHAT CHRIST DID
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” Romans 1:16 KJV
Beloved, the gospel is too sweet. It is the good news that is too good to be true. The gospel is about what Christ accomplished on our behalf in His death, burial, and resurrection.
The gospel is not about what you do, which is what we have preached over time. I used to think that the gospel is coming to church every day, telling people how bad they are, how much sins they have committed, and how they are going to hell, and that only a few persons will make it to heaven.
It is so funny that some preachers amplify that. They say things like, I was in a dream, and I found out that all the people in the church did not make heaven. They tell how they were in a dream, and the organ was playing. If the organ plays well, then God will say, Come into heaven and if it plays badly, He will say, Go to hell.
That is not true! People conjure different things to determine who goes to heaven or who does not. But when you look at the scripture, that is not what the Bible says. It is all about what Jesus has already accomplished on our behalf.
I want to encourage you, particularly if you are a young person out there; God is not through with you yet. So don’t ever write yourself off. I don’t even care where you are now, how you were born, the family you were born into, or the mistakes you have made.
God is not looking at your mistakes. He is only interested in what He can work out in your life. When you keep looking at yourself, you will see mistakes. But when you focus on Jesus, you will live a life of continuous victory.
