WISDOM FOR THE DAY DEVOTIONAL
BY BISHOP MIKE OKONKWO

SUNDAY 22nd FEBRUARY 2026

TOPIC: IT IS WRITTEN

“And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.” – Matthew 4:3 (KJV)

God had already declared that Jesus is His beloved Son: “And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” – Matthew 3:17 (KJV)
Yet the devil came with subtle distortion. He removed the word “beloved” and said, “If thou be the Son of God.” That is how the enemy works, he tries to twist what God has spoken. But thank God, Jesus responded with the Word.

Beloved, you don’t defeat Satan’s suggestions with reasoning or mere thoughts. You use the Word of God. Jesus said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” – Matthew 4:4 (KJV)
Satan was not finished. He tried again, quoting scripture to manipulate Jesus, “Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, and saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee…” – Matthew 4:5–6 (KJV)
Jesus responded in the same way, without fear or hesitation, “It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.” – Matthew 4:7 (KJV)
Beloved, this is the principle you must apply in your life. The weapon to overcome the enemy is the Word of God. Satan has no answer to “It is written.” His goal is always to contradict what God has spoken over you. Many believers fall into this trap because they are not grounded in the Word.

You see, Jesus spoke the Word. He declared what He believed. That is how power is released. That is how you win battles of the mind. Learn to speak the Word. Let the Word be your defense and your weapon. When you do, the enemy has no choice but to flee.
