WISDOM FOR THE DAY DEVOTIONAL
BY BISHOP MIKE OKONKWO

MONDAY MAY 25TH 2026

TOPICS: THE GRACE OF GOD IS UNDESERVED

“For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face from thee; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.” Isaiah 54:7-8 KJV

God’s anger never lasts forever. God is gracious. And His Mercy is great. Grace is unmerited, unearned, and undeserved. If you deserve it, it is no longer grace. God is the one who qualifies the ungodly.

If you come before Him bringing your godly report card as the reason you can receive from Him, you will receive nothing. All you need to do is to believe and receive.

Do not ever come to God with your credentials and good deeds. Brother Mike, is there anything wrong with my good deeds? No! However, the good things you do are just in response to His goodness towards you.

Jesus is the center of it all. Everything revolves around Him. When you see Jesus, every other thing loses value. Your money will lose value. You will go bananas for Him. When you truly see Jesus, no one will tell you to live for Him. You will not live for Him because somebody is watching you, rather, it is because you love Him.

God is so gracious. That is why His grace prevails over your life. He does not want to see your mistakes. His eyes are too pure to behold iniquity. He wants to see you as pure as Jesus. Your true identity is Jesus. It does not matter what you have done. If you have received Christ into your life as your Lord and Saviour, you are in Him. You are not wrong. You are not making a mistake.

You are in Jesus. So always address yourself the way God addresses Jesus. It is an honour to God for you to say you are righteous and holy. That is your true position in Christ. When you stand on this truth, it will affect your behaviour.
