TOPIC: THE WORD BRINGS THE SUPERNATURAL
“But Simon answered and said to Him, Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” Luke 5:5 NKJV
The Word of God is life and Spirit. With the Word, therefore, we can operate in the Spirit. The book of Hebrews 4:12 states, “For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (KJV).
The Word of God penetrates the spirit, soul, and body. Only the Word of God has the capacity to penetrate every aspect of life. Man is made up of the spirit, soul, and body. While we don’t see our spirit or soul, the Word of God sees them.
Whenever the Word of God is preached, the supernatural is in operation, seeking those who will receive it. In Luke 5:1, the people pressed to hear the Word of God, not just to see miracles. Many believers are deceived today because they pursue God for miracles rather than knowing Him intimately.
There is more to God than just pursuing Him for things. Pursuing Him solely for material gain can be seen as an insult. If God spared not His Son, He will also freely give us all things (Romans 8:32). What we are pursuing is already a free gift. Instead of focusing on material pursuits and switching between churches, we should prioritise our relationship with God.
The supernatural occurred because Peter heard the Word. Despite his expertise and efforts, he caught nothing. But at Jesus’ Word, he let down the net and caught a massive number of fish.
According to Luke 5:15: “……great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities.” (KJV). People came to hear the Word and be healed. Hearing and healing, as well as hearing and miracles, go hand in hand.
This story raises important questions: Are you positioned to receive from God? Are you open and receptive to the supernatural workings of His Word?
