WISDOM FOR THE DAY DEVOTIONAL
BY BISHOP MIKE OKONKWO

SATURDAY 28th MARCH 2026

TOPIC: WE ARE ON MOUNT ZION

“But ye are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the Living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels.” – Hebrews 12:22 (KJV)

Beloved, in Hebrews 12:20, the Bible recounts the terrifying scene on Mount Sinai: “For they could not endure that which was commanded, and if so much as a beast touch the mountain it shall be stoned or thrust through with a dart. And so terrible was the sight that Moses said, ‘I exceedingly fear and quake.’”
That was Mount Sinai; a mountain of fire, judgment, and condemnation. A place that highlighted weakness without offering strength to overcome.

But I am glad to tell you, we are no longer on Mount Sinai. Today, our location is Mount Zion. We have moved from a mountain of fear and law to a mountain of grace, a city of the Living God. Here, there is an innumerable company of angels accompanying us. We have come to Jesus, the Mediator of the new covenant.
Aren’t you grateful that Jesus is the One who gave us this new covenant? He died and rose to execute it, ensuring that no one can violate it or cheat you out of your rights and privileges. Unlike Abel’s blood, which cried out for vengeance, the blood of Jesus speaks of protection, security, victory, and prosperity.

Hebrews 9:11-12 says: “But Christ being come an High Priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building. Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood He entered once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”

Beloved, notice carefully, He entered once and for all. Your redemption is complete and eternal. Jesus does not have to go repeatedly to sanctify it because what He did is perfectly finished. Your salvation, your protection, and your victory are secured forever in Him.
