WISDOM FOR THE DAY DEVOTIONAL
By Bishop Mike Okonkwo
FRIDAY 13th FEBRUARY 2026
TOPIC: YOU NEED YOUR EYES TO BE OPENED
“Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. And she went and filled the skin with water, and gave the lad a drink.” – Genesis 21:19 (NKJV)
Beloved, many people today say there are no jobs or opportunities in our nation. I always respond that perhaps they simply haven’t looked closely enough. We need God to open our eyes, for every challenge in our society and in our lives carries within it a seed of opportunity.
Having traveled widely, I have observed that there are countless opportunities around us, sometimes right under our noses, that we fail to recognize. All we need is for God to open our eyes. You do not need to steal, cheat, or follow the crowd to succeed. The opportunities are there; we just need spiritual eyes to see them.
Hagar would have died of thirst along with her son, Ishmael, if God had not opened her eyes to the well of water. Likewise, there are “wells of water” near you, resources, ideas, or avenues of blessing that you may not even be aware of. Pray for God to open your eyes to see your own well of provision.
Every believer has a God advantage, a divine edge that sets us apart. But this advantage is only effective when we leverage it rightly. Cutting corners, seeking shortcuts, or acting dishonestly will limit your progress. If you cannot be trusted, no one will invest in you.
Opportunities will pass you by, and you will wonder why your life is stagnant. When integrity is lost, character is lost, and when character is compromised, blessings cannot be fully realized.
God’s hand of blessing rests upon you. Do not cut corners. Walk in integrity and faithfulness. Step into your place, for no door that God opens will be shut against you. Your portion is above only, and your life is positioned for supernatural favor. Keep your eyes on Him, and He will lead you to your well of water.
